Frequently Asked Questions
How do I report an absence?
In order to report a child’s absence you must report the absence to the school by phone or email before 9am on the first day - this must then be repeated for each subsequent day of absence.
Telephone: 01858 880430 or email office@sta.learnat.uk
Can I take my child out of school during term time?
The school adopts a strict Authorisation of Absence Policy and in order to take your child out of school for an authorised period of absence you will require the permission from the Headteacher. When making a decision on whether to authorise an absence, we will follow a long-standing set of guidelines that are designed to ensure the best outcome for your child’s education.
Can my child walk home on their own?
Only children in Year 6 are allowed to walk to or from school on their own and only if we have received a letter from their parent/carer giving permission for their child to do so.
Can I visit the school?
Of course! The senior leadership team and the staff are always happy to welcome you and give you a tour of our school. Contact the school office to arrange an appointment.
Do you accept children from outside the catchment area?
Absolutely! If you feel St. Andrew’s is the right school for your child we will do our best to ensure they will have a home with us throughout their primary education.
How big are the class sizes at St Andrew’s?
Although we are a small school, our class sizes range from 20 to 30 students. We currently have 4 classes.
Acorn - Reception and Pre-School

How will the school keep me informed of events, news or school closures?
Each week we send our ‘Friday Flyer’ newsletter via email. Alongside this we update parents regularly through our website. In case of a school closure you will be notified by email or text, and we always advise you to check the website and social media for regular updates.
